Email templates
Email templates are reusable, branded invitation emails used when you send surveys by email. They support personalisation variables and open/click tracking.
Building a template
Open Email templates to manage your templates. A template has:
- Name — how you'll recognise it when sending.
- Subject — the email subject line.
- HTML body — the rich email content.
- Plain-text fallback — shown to email clients that don't render HTML.
Starter examples are provided to get you going, and a live preview renders your template with a sample survey URL so you can see how it'll look.
Personalisation variables
Templates can include merge variables that are filled in per recipient:
| Variable | Resolves to |
|---|---|
{{link}} | The survey link (click-tracked). |
{{surveyUrl}} | The survey's URL. |
{{surveyId}} | The survey's identifier. |
{{name}} | The recipient's name, when available. |
{{custom_…}} | Any custom column you mapped in a file-drop send. |
Open and click tracking
When a template is used, Davies CXsmart embeds:
- An open pixel that records when the email is opened.
- Click-wrapped links that record clicks on the survey link.
Each template shows its aggregate open rate and click rate across all the sends that used it, so you can compare templates and improve over time.
Using a template
Pick a template when sending a single, bulk, or file-drop email invitation. If you don't choose one, a simple default invitation is used.
