AI survey generation

AI survey generation turns a short brief into a complete draft survey — questions, options, and structure — that you then review, edit, and publish. It's a head-start, not an autopilot: the result is always a draft you own.

Who can use it​

  • The ai feature flag must be on (system admin, Configure → Features).
  • You need surveys.edit to create a survey.

How to generate a survey​

  1. On the Surveys page, choose Generate with AI.
  2. Write a brief — what you want to learn, the audience, the channel (online / SMS / IVR affects question types). You can attach a PDF or image (a brief, a legacy survey, brand guidance) and the AI will read it as context.
  3. Generate. The AI returns a structured draft (validated against the survey schema) and creates it as a draft survey in your account.
  4. Review and edit the draft like any survey — fix wording, reorder, add branching — then publish when you're happy.

:::note Always a draft The generated survey is created in draft status. It is never published automatically, and no survey-logic or redirect field exists that could exfiltrate answers — the AI can only shape question text and options, which you then review. :::
