Surveys overview

A survey in Davies CXsmart is a single, unified definition of what you want to ask and how it can be delivered. The same survey can go out by email, SMS, web link, or phone (IVR) — you build it once and choose where it runs.

Where to find your surveys

Open Surveys from the sidebar. The list shows every survey in your client account with its name and status:

StatusMeaning
DraftStill being built. Not visible to respondents.
PublishedLive and accepting responses.
ArchivedRetired. No longer collecting responses, but its data is preserved.

Use New survey to create one, then open any survey to manage it.

The survey workspace

Opening a survey gives you a set of tabs that cover its whole lifecycle:

  • Questions — add and order questions, set their type and options, and add branching rules. See Building a survey.
  • Settings — name, status, theme, and group assignment.
  • Distribute — choose delivery channels and send invitations. See the Distribution section.
  • Reporting — NPS, CSAT, CES, and rating summaries plus a volume trend for this survey.
  • Responses — browse, search, and open individual responses.

How a survey reaches respondents

A survey is delivered through one or more channels. Each channel has different capabilities, so the question types you can use depend on where the survey runs:

ChannelBest for
Online / webFull-featured surveys via a shareable link or embed.
EmailInvitations with a link, sent in bulk or one at a time.
SMSShort interactive or link-based surveys over text.
IVR (inbound & outbound)Surveys conducted over the phone using keypad input.
EmbeddedSurveys triggered on your own website (badge / embed).

When you enable channels for a survey, Davies CXsmart checks the questions against what each channel supports and warns you if a question type cannot be delivered there (for example, multi-select, matrix, and voice-recording questions cannot run over SMS or IVR). See the full channel capability matrix.

Typical flow

  1. Create a survey and give it a name.
  2. Build the questions, pages, and branching logic.
  3. Theme it and assign it to a group if you use groups.
  4. Publish it to make it live.
  5. Distribute it through your chosen channels.
  6. Watch responses arrive on the Reporting and Responses tabs.
